ABOUT US

The Salem Kayak Club was established in 2020 and is operated by Shannon, the owner of Oregon Kayak Tours LLC.

The primary mission of the club is to foster a welcoming and inclusive community for individuals, whether or not they own a kayak. It aims to create a sense of belonging for people from all walks of life, where respect, kindness, and equality are paramount. Members are encouraged to share, ask questions, and engage in conversations in our Facebook group in a judgment-free environment.

We host monthly off-water meet-ups, offering an opportunity to connect with active members who are the heart of the club. These events include time for socializing, games, prizes, educational content, and updates on upcoming paddle events and trips.

Through Oregon Kayak Tours LLC, the club offers affordable or even free kayak excursions for individuals who do not own their own kayaks, ensuring everyone has the opportunity to participate.

Shannon is deeply committed to the safety and success of both new and experienced paddlers. She encourages members who purchase kayaks to join the club for safety reasons and to benefit from the camaraderie and support of experienced paddlers. By paddling in a group, members can improve their skills and form lasting friendships.

Shannon also offers members with their own kayaks the chance to join her guided commercial kayak tours free of charge, providing valuable learning experiences in a professional setting.

Throughout the year, the club organizes guided kayak camping trips, participates in community events such as fundraisers, city kayaking events, and parades, and engages in fun social gatherings both on and off the water. These efforts are all part of the club's dedication to giving back to the community and fostering a positive, supportive environment for all.
