SALEM KAYAK CLUB
JANUARY 2025 Meet Up Agenda (RECAP)

1.) Moving forward into 2025! We have another great year ahead of us for kayak adventures!
We are getting more noticed in the community as a serious real kayak club. Especially being a part of community events like the Keizer Lights Parade, the club is advertised very well on paid social media Ads, by the Oregon Kayak Tours page, well-advertised online on the Oregon Kayak Tours website. Salem Kayak Club has its own page on the website. If you haven't already, go check it out. People are well aware of the club and learn about it at the community event I do with Keizer when we provide free education and kayaking with the community, customers learn about the club on commercial tours and every time all of us share photos and club information to the community.
2.) Now being apart of the chamber of Keizer. Being a member, I advertise the club once a week to about 60 other members. Point to all of this is we have more eyes on our club and watching what we do and our actions. We have a larger responsibility as an entire club to be that role model. Not just me anymore. it passes down to all of you. Because all of our active members are the face and voice of this club. Recruiting and your participation is vital for our club to continue to grow and in a healthy and honorable way. Stepping up our game to safer paddling and habits will show everyone the more professionalism of this club and us to be taken seriously and a reliable source to trust and feel safe in. Our image is important. and how we want to be seen by the community. This is good news, because we are starting to be recognized and appreciated.

3.) Attending meetings, following along on meetings recaps, staying informed, participation online and in person is vital to remain a club member. Communication is key. Rather that's online, by text message or in person. So, we still know you are active. Regardless of if we only see you a few times a year in person. Being active online is easy to do from your phone at home. Sharing post and community events on your FB page shows your participation and showing you are here to help grow our club.
4.) As much as I love members wanting to add friends into the club. This is not the proper way to do so. To do so, is to invite them to a club meeting or club paddle or have then ask to join FB group. Because, they have questions they must answer to get accepted. And when you auto invite people, they don't always get in.
5.) Right now, I am the only one that has been active in looking over profiles and accepting new people into the club. As we move into the busy season especially with the kayaking and bouncy house biz I operate. The chances of me accepting people will slow way down or stop all together. I need active moderators in the kayak club to read and like post in our club, share photos and encaged our club every day or every other day.
6.) Or else no one will get FB notifications to click into our club feedback. This helps keep other members encaged and encourage others to keep club active. We all as club members should actively be taking on this role. I definitely need moderators to take over checking out profiles and accepting or deny new members. You will have to be already an active member to get this role.

7.) As for active Club Members, there is a lot of you!! Your role has been important and vital.

8.) UPDATES:
Moving forward we will start having our regular meetings here at Shade of Brew upstairs on Mondays from 6:30PM-8:30PM once a months. Due to the convenient of space, privacy, and the owner/ manager gave me their blessing to have this room for us once a month and place reserve signs. They enjoy having us come every year for our bingo lotto nights. Food and drinks are affordable and serves our purpose.

9.) However, we will still plan on using Abby Pizza in Keizer as our Christmas party. As it is usually our first biggest club turn out and the privacy and space is needed. You can always expect going to the REC Bowling alley in Keizer for our annual LAST meetup in April before our busy kayaking season. Then all our gatherings are on the water after. Indoor off the water Club meet ups are Sept through April.
In case you don't know our annual Lotto Bingo Night is also here at Shades of Brew every March. These special meetings attend to be longer. Allowing 45 mins to eat. Before going into 2 hrs of laughter and games. So allow extra time for these fun events.

What’s the difference between Commercial Kayak Group paddles/events OR Salem Kayak Club Paddles/ events?
For one when I create an event in our Salem Kayak Club Facebook. You (must have to read details) which gives you specific instructions what to do? And if this is a commercial event or club event? It will state (commercial event).
*A commercial event: anyone is welcome to join that do or do not have paddle boats, anyone in or out of our kayak club can participate. And requirement of a purchase ticket is mandatory. Anywhere from $5 to $25. Details will be in the website in events at www.OregonKayakTours.com (This is sperate from a Kayak Club event)
*Salem Kayak Club events (Group Paddles): are hosted by any club member and only for our club. Were not allow to share our club paddles to outsiders or other kayak groups. We have our own club digital wavier we all have to sign before participating. You can find all this in (feature post) when you scroll up in club on FB.
*Pop Up paddles by me, is when I offer a Free Kayak Rental, I will shuttle for FREE for members who do not have a kayak time to time. To give everyone an opportunity who do not have a kayak to kayak and learn in our club. These are usually last minute. Will need to follow club regularly for all opportunities.

PAST READS: MUST READ) Very excited for all our upcoming club paddles, camping trips, Potluck meetups on the river, and my community commercial fun events like the Agate Rock Contest, Tacos at the Narrows, Labor Day Floaty Float, Halloween Paddle, and more! Please follow the Facebook Club's Page (Feature Post). Or you will miss out. Club paddles will be added on as we move into summer, when we can predict weather. If club paddles change at last minute. Then it's your responsibility to follow up with the club paddle organizer. Read club rules and expectations, sign club waiver. This is all in (Feature Post) in club on FB.
